Since beginning her practice as an attorney, Olivia has represented clients in a range of litigation and family law matters. She received extensive training in high-profile business litigation cases at major law firms over the past decade. This expertise allows her to create lean, solution-focused strategies for both businesses and families who are currently litigating, or trying to solve their problems while avoiding future litigation.
Olivia has extensive experience litigating non-competition, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure agreements, misappropriation of trade secrets, breaches of contract, breaches of fiduciary duty, and tortious interference. She has also authored articles on trends in alternative dispute resolution for the American Bar Association’s Litigation Section. She specializes in helping businesses protect their goodwill, client base, employees, and trade secrets from unfair competition by ex-employees or ex-business partners. First, she and her clients collaborate to make strong employee agreements, severance agreements, and employee handbooks to minimize the threat of litigation. If litigation is necessary, Olivia works with her business clients to seek an immediate court order that stops departing employees or partners from using confidential information and trade secrets to compete with them.
Olivia also applies her solution-oriented civil litigation expertise to cases including divorce, custody, child support, grandparent visitation, and orders of protection. She recommends that clients engage in a team-oriented approach to litigation, and frequently recommends other trauma-informed professionals who can support her clients’ mental/emotional health and help them address their concerns about how their financial future will change.
Olivia’s legal work on domestic violence issues began in 2012, when she established a pro bono partnership between her employer at the time, a large law firm, and Chicago’s Domestic Violence Legal Clinic. Over the years, as this partnership grew, she trained many private attorneys as they dedicated their time to obtaining restraining orders and orders of protection for the Clinic’s clients.
Olivia earned her law degree from the University of Chicago in 2009 after completing her undergraduate degree in Classics and the University of Texas at Austin. While in Austin she was on the rowing team and named a Big XII Scholar-Athlete. Olivia is licensed to practice law in both Illinois and California.
